Mozart Clarinet Concerto

Clarinet Masterclasses from Charles Neidich
Length: 84 minutes

84 minutes teaching of probably the most popular clarinet piece of all times, the Mozart Clarinet Concerto.

Some years ago professor at The Juilliard School recorded what has turned out to be the most played recording ever of Mozart´s masterpiece for clarinet and orchestra. He is a specialist in this piece and his knowledge about it is not matched anywhere else.

Topics to be covered are:

  • phrasing
  • ornamentations
  • finger technique
  • sound on a reconstructed basset clarinet versus a modern clarinet
  • harmonic structure and understanding
  • historical perspective

LESSON PLAN

01 1st movement

02 2nd movement

Mozart Concerto is explained without over-labouring technical detail and in some ways humorously. It demonstrates a fantastic insight that will lift your playing to new levels. The students play brilliantly and it is worth it for that alone.

Thomas Cuthbert

I always have been watching this master class video since it came out and I still watch it. It is extremely useful and gives me wider view on my clarinet studies

Hyun Min

Charles Neidich's comprehensive knowledge of this piece is just astonishing.

Camilo Davila

Very helpful, I am preparing this for a recital and applying some of the insights I gained from this video. Too bad there is no coverage of the third movement as well.
