Hi! I'm a multi-style jazz violinist based in Greece. If you want to dive into jazz violin then let's get together!
Chris started with his classical education and received his first degree in classical violin at the Thessaloniki New Conservatory in 2012. Chris’ passion for improvisation and jazz music was clear at an early age, and was certainly awoken by the many jazz-musicians his family counts. Also, his father would play Chris’ favorite George Benson cassette over and over while driving the car. Experiences like these made him want to see new things, travel abroad and dive deeper into music.
He studied classical violin at Codarts conservatory Rotterdam, and followed jazz violin studies with Tim Kliphuis, at the Fontys Conservatory in Tilburg.
He is one of the founder members of the international jazz string quartet named "Dot Quartet" where he performed all around Europe (Spain, Greece, Holland, Canary Islands etc.) . In 2015 they released their first album with the title "Travelers". For the past years he has been performing with the Dennis Pol Quartet, a smoky gypsy jazz group where he perfomed in big stages/festivals such as Django Amsterdam (Bimhuis), Djangofest Athens, Midwest Gipsy Swing Fest to name a few. They recently had a succesful tour in Greece with over 30 concerts.
His sound is generally based on gypsy jazz sounds, but generously blends in some rock and some blues elements. Moreover, he is a a skilled guitar player and singer. Chris is also fascinated by photography and graphic design. For the past year he is being focused in teaching and sharing his music through his youtube channel: Jazz Violin Playground.
