I am a baroque flute (traverso) teacher & player, a former teacher of Leipzig Conservatory (Germany) with over 25 years of teaching experiences
I am a native Hungarian baroque flute player, but have spent more than half of my life travelling around the world as a performer, regular teacher of major European conservatories and as a professor at masterclasses and summer schools in all Europe, Japan, Russia and the Middle East. I am an enthusiastic teacher who prefers the advantages of being a freelance musician rather than working in musical institutions. During the last ca. 25 years I taught at least 300 students at conservatories, private or in masterclasses; provided ca. 15 of them with university degree (BMus or MMus).
As a performer I won two prestigious baroque music competitions (Baroque Music Artist Competition, Orlando, USA, & Musica Antiqua Competition, Brugge, Belgium) and produced 12 CD's a soloist.
I am happy to teach open-minded, enthusiastic students of all ages, levels and nations, who want to learn the baroque flute.
Benedek Chalog is one of the most outstanding performers and teachers of modern times in the field of Baroque flute performance! My friendship with him lasts more than 10 years and every time we meet and learn a lesson I get new and interesting knowledge and I want to learn more! Thanks to him, I fell in love with baroque music and my eyes opened. I am very grateful to my teacher.
Mr. Csalog has worked with me for more than 6 months as a beginner with Baroque flute after years playing contemporary flute. There is no one better I think to guide you if you are interested in baroque music and flute. My playing has improved immensely and even my sensitivity with contemporary flute has become much more sophisticated as a result. His lineage comes from direct study with other great masters including Kuijken. He is quite astute in his musical direction and methods.
Benedek is very patient and knowledgeable of the instrument and repertoire. He has found ways to help me improve technically and artistically. His background on modern flute provides insight into exactly how the traverso technique differs. A great teacher.
I'm a chemist in Japan. I always love best of the best in all fields. I look for "real" flautist with excellent teaching and great sounds. Benedek is the teacher whom I hope to meet. His Baroque flute sounds are very attractive, and his teaching style is perfect; very logical and very skilful, moreover he takes care of me very seriously; "far east" non-music majored guy. I strongly recommend learning from his lessons periodically. You can learn a lot of things. He is one of top Baroque flute player! You should start his lessons NOW.
