Hi, I'm Sofia, a flutist with 10 years of teaching experience. In 2016 I received my post-graduate degree. I look forward to help improve you!

Hi everyone, I am Sofia Kayaya, a flutist from Denmark. I have ten years of teaching experience, and received my post-graduate soloist degree in 2016. I teach all levels, and would love to meet you, hear you, and to help improve you!

Classical music and flute playing has always been a part of my life, and a source to joy, personal balance and good energy. In my professional life, I do my best to hold on to this, by keeping a focus on both body and mind, when working with music. Playing the flute is a lot of fun, but it’s also hard work and sometimes hard pressure. For me, it’s in the balance between these things I find the passion, and I am reminded what a gift it is to be able to play all this good music. I teach, because I love to bring on that passion, balance and good energy.

I focus on a good and healthy basic technique, the musical style and expression, the creation of a beautiful sound, the techniques of breathing, and the game of the mind and mental preparation. And most important of all, aiming towards you to become your own best teacher.

All ages and levels are welcome. I look forward to meet you and help you to explore your full potential.

Sofia Kayaya has been my flute teacher since 2011. I was at that time 65 years old and could hardly play the flute, nor could I read the notes. Sofia always meet me with positive enthusiasm, always encouraging me. She has a fine and educational way to find where the pupil is and start here instructing in accordance with the pupil’s ability. She is extremely patient and suitable persevering. I have often seen Sofia teaching 2 pupils at the age of 7 years – always the same attentive and positive teacher. Sofia has the important ability to praise her pupil even after small steps forward, so that the pupil is encouraged to go on. Besides this Sofia is also a very nice person - always with a smile and a good sense of humour. Thanks to Sofia’s teaching, I ‘m now playing the second flute part in a little local amateur symphony orchestra. As it must be obvious from the above written, that I can only give Sofia Kayaya my very best recommendations.

I chose Sofia as a teacher without knowing anything about her: I went only by geographical and cultural proximity (Sofia is Danish, I’m Swedish). I turned out to have made an excellent choice: Sofia is attentive, tunes in to my playing and my requests, and is patient. She is able to criticise my play without making me lose spirit. Over the past three months, I have improved greatly. I thoroughly recommend Sofia: for me, at my stage (roughly two and half years of playing, two of which autodidactically), I cannot imagine a better teacher.

Sofia makes me play better than I think I can. She always has something good to say and even my week spots are gently cared for. Sofia has high demands for me as a student, and she is not letting me off the hook. I need all of this to get better. After my first lesson, I thought "wow", I was so happy for what she brought forth in me. And now after many more lessons, I strive to become who she sees me as a flutist.
