The bassoonist Sebastian Stevensson was born 1987 in a musical family in Sigtuna, Sweden. He played the bassoon since childhood and by age 16 he was admitted at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm under Knut Sönstevold. Later he was a student of Ole Kristian Dahl at the Musikhochschule Mannheim, Germany.
He appeard as soloist with Orchestra of Saint Luke’s in New York, Duisburg Philharmonic, Germany and the Nordic Youth Orchestra in Lund, Sweden. and He is an active chamber musician and performs regurarly with DiamantEnsemblet at the Royal Library in Copenhagen.

During 2015 Sebastian is serving as principal bassoon of the Munich Philharmonic under Valery Gergiev and since 2012 also holds the position as principal bassoon of the Danish National Symphony Orchestra. He also appeared as guest principal with Royal Stockholm Philharmonic, West German Radio Orchestra, DSO Berlin, City of Birmingham Symphony, Philharmonia Orchestra and the London Philharmonic.

Sebastian is a laureate of the Prague Spring Competition, winner of the Rosenborg German Scholarship and collected the 1st Prize at the 2014 Gillet-Fox Bassoon Competition in New York. Sebastian is working as teacher at the Danish Royal Academy of Music and held masterclasses in Stockholm and in Mannheim.
