When I came to Germany firstly, I felt pretty stressful, because there are many different and new ideas of trumpet playing from Taiwan. But Sarah did really help me get into the suitation sooner than I could.For example, she shew me many practical methods that can improve my mentality,musicality and technicality.After the lesson I feel everything is easier than I thought, and my playing become more nature.The speciality she has is she can easily,always combine and make the connection from this one to another. Dear trumpeters, Sarah is a teacher who truly deserves your attention! I was lucky enough to study in Karlsruhe for a year with Reinhold Friedrich, and with Sarah as his assistent. It was an amazing year, I learnt a lot! I always found very helpful to do basics with Sarah. She really knows how to put together a proper warm-up routine! We also worked on solo repertoire, which was great, she helped me to solve many technical difficulties, and always reminded me of the most important: to make beautiful music and enjoy playing! We also did some audition preparation wich turned out really well! I had a lesson with Sarah Slater at a Masterclass in which she displayed many of her teaching capabilities. Despite the very short time we had together we worked on various instrumental and musical aspects. We practised tonguing and airflow as well as working on a confident posture and musical phrasing. I met Sarah few years ago, in Barcelona. We were doing a project with some of the people from Mahler Chamber and she was there for the trumpets. Since then I have done some other projects with her, always with a smile on the face and enthusiasm for the good work done. I think her way to approach the students, her positivity and happiness was perfect for me, because it gave me the confident and the energy I needed, and I think that that it's one of the principal thinks we need as a trumpet players.
