So, you want to fine-tune your playing, to get more focus, to feel more confident on your instrument? I can help!
Open to all repertoire.
Hi there - I'm Peter Morrison, an Australian cellist, present member of The Danish National Radio Orchestra and Australian World Orchestra, but also previous member and regular principal player of several major orchestras and ensembles in Australia. I am also a composer.
My over-riding passion is to pull the best creativity out of people's hidden drawers and into the open. With a solid grounding in technique from Janos Starker and many other greats of the cello world, I will give you the stability you wish for, whilst also aiming to get you to think out of the box and teach you the processes that will allow you to eventually solve issues for yourself. Happy to teach cellists as well as to musically focus any instrumentalist's recital or exam program. From cello to violin and even to tuba - from solo to chamber music to orchestral excerpts and improvisational playing. I'm ready to teach with you.
I have started to take lessons with prof. Morrison a few months ago and can only state it has been an incredibly beneficial experience for me. His vast musical experience and excellent skills enable him to focus on more aspects of playing while teaching, therefore all of the lessons are incredibly interesting, inspiring and full of new information. Also, I found his suggestions and ideas to be very useful, both for improving technical cello skills and approaching music in general. No matter whether I decide to work on orchestral or soloist repertoire with prof. Morrison he is always able to give me a very detailed feedback, which helps me tremendously with my practicing and preparation for concerts and auditions as well. In addition, his capability to choose an individual approach for the person he is teaching makes him an outstanding pedagogue whom I would warmly recommend to any cellist who has an ambition to improve their skills in any sort of way.
Peter is not only an incredibly skilled cellist but a patient and masterful teacher. Each lesson I walk away with new technique that I can incorporate into my practice. After returning to the cello after years of not working with an instructor, Peter has quickly brought me back up to speed. I look forward to my lessons each week with Peter and would full heartedly recommend Peter to any cellist looking for high-quality, student-centered instruction.
I find Peter's lessons musically very precise and detailed. I have learnt a lot just after a few lessons.
I am an adult beginner and started lessons with Peter about a month. Peter is a dedicated and highly experience teacher. Lessons with him are very insightful and fun. I feel comfortable and enjoy my lesson very much. After only one month of lessons, I got complements from others that my cello playing has improved significantly. I am very happy to have Peter as my mentor.
I've had cello lessons with Peter for several months now and I can say that he is an outstanding teacher. He manages to combine his expertise with a good sense of humour which makes his teaching style effective and fun at the same time. I am learning and enjoying a lot!
Although I am a violinist, not a cellist, I really wish to recommend Peter as a coach for audition repertoire, both orchestral excerpts and concertos. I met him just before my first big audition and he definitely helped a lot in the one lesson we had.
