Cello lessons with Monique Heidema "where teaching is still a form of art"
My motto is : Everyone who wants to learn to play an instrument has the right to receive highly qualified instruction!

Why I teach music :

Not because I expect you to be major in music.
Not so you can relax, not so you can have fun.
BUT,
so you will be human,
so you will recognise beauty,
so you will be sensitive,
so you will have something to cling to
so you will have more compassion
so you will have more gentleness
so you will have so to say more life!

I am professor for cello for masters, bachelor, preparatory and young talent at the
- University or Arts Fontys Conservatory Tilburg
- University of Arts Amsterdam Sweelinck Academie Conservatory Amsterdam.
I am regularly invited to provide masterclasses in the Netherlands and abroad as well. In 2015 I gave masterclasses in Taiwan and in 2016 she travelled tot the Conservatorio Superior de Musica van Salamanca in Spain for students bachelor and masters.

Since 2017 I organise my own cello course in the Netherlands. This year this course took place in October 2019.
During summers 2019 and 2020 I am and will be a member of the team of outstanding professors coming from all over the world during the Ervin Schiffer masterclasses in Hungary
I also like to give cello lessons to enthusiastic, motivated and advanced students. I have a lot of experience in guiding students through conservatory entrance examinations and in preparing programmes for participation competitions. The combination of teaching cello students and amateurs is a very enjoyable, but also very important; after all, making music must be well supervised at every level and everyone is entitled to the best training playing an instrument.

Several of my students have been graduated with outstanding results. Perhaps even more importantly, all of my qualified students have been able to earn their living as cellists and teachers.
Many of my students have been accepted into the conservatories of The Hague, Amsterdam, Tilburg, Utrecht and Rotterdam and many have won prizes at the Prinses Christina Concours, the competition of Stichting Jong Muziektalent Nederland, Maassluise muziekweek and the Britten concours Zwolle.
Next to teaching I must be on stage regularly mostly playing chamber music with very fine and oustanding colleagues. And I am the founder and artistic director of the classical music festival "Ocrum Muziek Festival" which is been hold every year in May in the Netherlands.
