I m playing in the orchester, teaching bassoon and playing as a soloist for over 18 years. I would like to share my experiences and help you.
My passion is teaching and I m doing it for many years successfully at Zürich University of the Arts. My methods are simple to understand and after a while you will see how easy the bassoon becomes after a bit of intelligent and detailed practice.

Zürich University of the Arts - chair for bassoon 2006 – Present
Since the start of his career Matthias Rácz is highly engaged in the advancement of young talents. Since he started to teach at the University in Zürich he is giving master classes around the globe.In 2002, the 1st prize at the International Music Betting competition "Prague Spring" followed and the same year he won also the International ARD Music Competition in Munich. -
principal bassoon Tonhalle Orchestra Zürich 2003 – Present
Since 2003 he is the principal bassoon in the Zurich Tonhalle Orchestra. -
Zürich 2007 – Present
Matthias Racz is the principal bassoon in the Lucerne Festival Orchestra under Riccardo Chailly. -
Artis Director for bassoon - The Muri Competition 2011 – Present
Moreover he is artistic director for bassoon at ‘The Muri Competition’ in Switzerland.
