Matthew Ardizzone

I teach classical guitar and work primarily with adult students. DMA from Eastman and over 20 years of teaching experience.

I taught my first adult students through Eastman's Community Music School as a graduate student in the mid-90s, went on to teach at Nazareth College and Bowling Green State University, and have taught master classes at numerous other schools. My teaching is aimed at helping my students keep connected to the original spark that first attracted them to the classical guitar while nurturing a strong technical foundation and healthy practice habits. My teaching draws on the concepts of my own primary teachers (Edward Flower, Nicholas Goluses) and those I have worked with in master classes or lessons (especially the Assads, Angel Romero, and Eliot Fisk). Ultimately, my approach is personalized to each student, recognizing that each player's hands, physical setup, and motivations are different.
