Mark Reynolds

Hi!
I am really keen on meeting and hearing students who want to improve their playing techniques such as breathing, musicality and sound.

Living here in the beautiful Highlands of Scotland means that it isn’t easy to meet and hear students but teaching is a vital part of my musical life.
I have played with some excellent musicians and conductors when I was the principal Tuba in De Filharmonie in Antwerp, and have played with ensembles such as the Munich Philharmonic, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Rotterdam Philharmonic, Ensemble Modern, Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen and World Brass .Playing with these groups has given me a broad background into many different aspects of brass playing.
My recent career has been dedicated to performing as well as teaching here in the Highlands along with teaching engagements at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and with the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland.
I would love to hear from any tuba student to discuss any part of their playing that they would like to improve.

Since starting the tuba in 2012 I feel I have learnt a massive amount from Mark Reynolds. I am one hundred percent sure I would not have been able to get to where I am without his help. His teaching is fantastic. It is simple, refined and effective. He is able to convey what you should try to achieve and guide you to a point where you can achieve it yourself. He does this in a way that enables you to learn along the way, helping you improve as a musician, rather than just improving the aspect you are working on. His teaching is enjoyable and you never feel out of place in his teaching environment. I would highly recommend receiving a lesson from Mark Reynolds. It will only do you good!

The lesson was great; it was over before I knew it because I enjoyed it so much. Mark is very clear and explains things in a simple enough way that anyone can understand what he means. I saw immediate results in my sound and breathing during the lesson and will continue to work on these aspects using the techniques Mark offered. The musical ideas and discussion that Mark has to offer is engaging and gets your brain thinking! I would recommend getting a lesson with Mark to anyone and I will definitely be seeking out more lessons!
