I am a freelance jazz bassist and vocalist. I have spent the past 25 years touring, teaching, and helping people have more fun playing music.

I have been fortunate enough to have studied with Ray Brown, John Clayton, Rufus Reid, Bertram Turetzky and Jeff Hamilton among others. They have inspired me, encouraged me, and kicked my rear end when I needed it. Ray told me once that it is our responsibility to pass the information on to others so we can keep the tradition alive. They gave it to me. I want to pass it along to you.

My approach is very organic and has developed as a result of 25 years of teaching students from teenagers at jazz camps, to university music majors, to adult amateur musicians to want to have more fun playing with their friends on the weekends.

I emphasize a lot of ear training and musical "games" that are fun, musical, and help build confidence in a steady progression.

Bassists: I can help you learn tunes faster, memorize them, and play them in all keys without freaking out or having to do a bunch of math.

Vocalists: We'll cross train (as your needs and desires demand) between ear training exercises (leading to improvisation) and finding and expressing your story in a lyric.
