I'm solo bass clarinet of the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra and teacher at the Griegakademiet in Bergen.
I was born in Piacenza, Italy, a long time ago and then studied with T.Friedli in Geneva, a great man and an immense teacher that taught me a lot in music and life.
I have been member of the of the Gustav Mahler Jugend-Orchester in 2002-2003, mainly as solo clarinet, and became solo bass clarinet of the Bergen Philharmonic in 2003.
I have always mainly been an orchestral musician and I then maintained an intense network of collaboration as guest bass clarinetist with many orchestras across Europe including Philharmonia Orchestra, BBC Symphony, Oslo Philharmonic, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Orchestra de la Suisse Romande, National Orchestra of S.Cecilia in Rome and Dutch Radio Philharmonic to name but a few, working under some of the most prestigious conductors such as Abbado, Boulez, Chung, Dutoit, Welzer-Most and recording for various labels including DG, Decca, EMI, Chandos, BIS.
Whether in my orchestra or elsewhere in some of my collaborations I played basically all the main repertoire and recorded quite a bit of it as well.
Go check the video at the top of the page! It says a lot of how I teach and what you might be getting yourself into :)
In 2014 the Bergen Philharmonic commissioned for me a new concerto for bass clarinet and orchestra to the Norwegian composer Henrik Hellstenius. The concerto, Still Panic, was premiered in April 2016 with the Bergen Philharmonic conducted by its chief conductor Edward Gardner and broadcasted live by the Norwegian radio NRK. A CD release is planned for the near future.
I'm bass clarinet teacher at the Griegakademiet in Bergen and a regular guest with BIT20 ensemble.
I'm a Buffet Crampon artist, I play an old Prestige that I love and Licostini mouthpieces.

Diego is one of the most inspiring teachers I have ever had, and I'm lucky to be one of his students. He always knows how to push you in the right direction towards your goals. Whether you need help with a technical issue, or needs musical advise, I can ensure you Diego will be able to help! He also have a lot of experience – so bring your, solo piece, opera – and orchestral excerpts, or simply your basics. Highly recommended!
Diego is an amazing bass clarinetist and teacher. He has been my bass clarinet teacher for the last two years, and he has really taught me a lot! He has brought out the very best in me in a very short amount of time and achieved great results. Diego gives concrete and good solutions to problems one might have, and his solutions work really well. This is a teacher that really cares about his students. I cannot recommend him enough!
I had the pleasure of having Diego as my bass clarinet teacher for a year during my bachelor's degree, and I found it very inspiring. He is a great musician and teacher. His methods are creative, and he has a way to put the music in a greater picture, making practicing excerpts meaningful and exciting. His lessons helped me develop my skills on the instrument enough to perform at a professional level. I highly recommend his lessons!
