Barbara Bonney is an extraordinary voice teacher whose expertise and dedication to the art of singing are unmatched. I feel incredibly grateful to live in a time where the existing technology allows us to access phenomenal teachers like Ms. Bonney who are not only the best in the field but also committed to sharing their incredible talent and refined musical knowledge with students all over the world. Having listened to many of Barbara Bonney’s masterful recordings and performance videos throughout my undergraduate and graduate years as a vocal performance major, I am captivated by her teaching prowess. Her unique method to teaching singing is both refreshing and inspiring. Ms. Bonney gracefully directs singers toward precision and purity of vowels, assists them in producing a clear, supported, unforced tone, and emphasizes diction and thorough command of language, phrasing, expression and artistry as she guides them on their journey to become the best version of themselves.

My daughter was registered for the New York State music association's annual festival, and had chosen Schubert's Ave Maria (German) for her performance piece. By sheer fortune, while searching online we came across this site, and saw that Ms. Bonney gave instruction. The version of Ave Maria that I had always played for my kids when they were young was in fact Ms. Bonney's version, and so this was serendipity in action. While my daughter was shy at first, Ms. Bonney quickly gained her trust as a personable, compassionate instructor. Her insights, ranging from practice techniques and vocal exercises to linguistics and understanding the emotion of the piece, were absolutely invaluable. My daughter performs tomorrow, and where I was previously worried, I today feel she is as prepared as can be. I could not be more pleased with this experience, and hope to reconnect with Ms. Bonney for further lessons as my daughter progresses.

Barbara gives me good advice and helps me progress. One thing that she taught me solved a problem that I've had for years! I am very grateful for the the lessons. We are lucky to live in a time when it is possible to learn from the finest musicians!
