I am an active performer and a Professor of Community Music at York University. I have a Doctorate of Music (violin) from McGill University.

As someone who has benefitted from dedicated teachers and music educators, I want to offer my own expertise and enthusiasm for music to those students, young and old, who are interested in exploring the world of music. I believe everyone should have access to a musical education, no matter their location or resources. I also value the importance of building relationships with audiences inside and outside the concert hall through both my performing as well as my teaching.
I have 15 years of experience as a private violin teacher, teaching students of all ages. I have also taught at inner-city schools and community programs such as the KIPP Bay Academy in San Francisco for middle-schoolers and the FACE music program in Montreal for elementary school students. For the past 4 years, I have also taught undergraduate violin students and courses such as "String Techniques" at McGill University's Schulich School of Music. In July 2020, I will be starting a new position as Professor of Community Music at York University's School of Arts, Media, Performance and Design.
My teaching method is personal to each student. I teach violin technique based on Galamian School principles and I often use the Suzuki progression of repertoire for young students. For students age 12+, I choose repertoire based on their own interests and needs. I have the best teaching experiences with students who are curious about the violin, who are interested in making music, and who are honest about what works and what needs a different approach.
