I am an experienced orchestra violinist with more than 10 years of private teaching experience, I would love to help you improve your playing!
Hello!
My name is Alma Ramírez, I am a Spanish violinist. I am a member of the Portuguese Orquestra Clássica do Sul and I also collaborates with the Málaga Philharmonic orchestra, in Spain. I love playing “classical” chamber music, which I do regularly, and I also collaborate with other musicians colleagues making entertaining and pedagogical concerts for children.
I lived in New York for two years, while I was studying with the reknowed violinist, pedagogue and Juilliard professor, Masao Kawasaki. He was a fantastic inspiration for me as a teacher, as well as many other professors. I am currently studying a PhD in England focus on the evolution of violin treatises through the decades and their specific role and influence in the musical industry and the job market for today violinists.
I have been teaching privately for more than 10 years, and I find it is, together with my orchestra career, extremely stimulating and exciting, as well as challenging. I enjoy teaching all levels, from beginners and amateurs, to higher levels, especially orchestral repertoire required for auditions, which I have studied very well in the last years.
I also work at a Conservatory here in Portugal with students between 4 and 16 years old.
Looking forward to meet all of the Spanish, Portuguese and English speakers violinists and enjoying music together!
Apart from music, I love swimming, dancing, spending time with my family in Spain and, of course, traveling!.
Alma teaches my 11 year old the violin. My daughter is a beginner and Alma is extremely patient and has made good progress with her in a few lessons. I would highly recommend Alma as a teacher!!
I was really nervous about restarting violin lessons after 16 years without any practice, especially knowing I am still a "beginner", but Alma´s expertise and patience made my restart smooth and easy. Alma is an amazing teacher, she really takes her time with her students, explaining every little detail in a very friendly environment. I was slightly reluctant about online practice lessons but actually, it is easy, comfortable and, nowadays, the safest way and I am glad I tried it and now I love it. With Alma's help, I can see real progress which makes me quite proud and wanting to learn and practice even more. I am really happy I chose Alma as my teacher/tutor and I do recommend her lessons to everyone!
She is so patient with my 9 year old who is just starting to play the violin. My daughter looks forward to her lessons and has made so much progress. We love Miss Alma
