Alixandra Porembski is a graduate of the distinguished percussion department of the Moores School of Music at the University of Houston. She is educated in Classical and Marching Percussion, Opera, Jazz, Drum Set, and World Music. In 2003, as a member of the Moores School Percussion Ensemble, she was honored to perform at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention in Louisville, Kentucky, as the winner of the Percussive Arts Society Percussion Ensemble Competition. The ensemble has toured throughout the United States and has recorded a number of percussion albums, available from Albany Records. Alixandra continues to be an active member of the Percussive Arts Society and the international percussion community and was recently interviewed for an industry podcast produced by the University of Missouri. Additionally, she is the founder of Planning Logic Studio, where she developed an original method of teaching and she is the creator, curator, and producer of the Virtual Masterclass Series and the Percussive Arts Series, a set of Educational Masterclasses and subsequent Videos covering a variety of instruments and formal music topics, presented by professional performers and educators from around the world. The Virtual Masterclass Series is available online and on YouTube as well as corresponding Spotify playlists and music resource pages. Ms. Porembski also holds Master’s degrees in Business and has worked in the administrations of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Music Academy of the West, the Narodowe Forum Muzyki, and the Filharmonia Narodowa. In addition to her teaching duties, she serves as a Musicologist and editor for several music industry websites and special projects including researching and writing CD liner notes, biographies, and annotating programs. She has been teaching percussionists of all ages since 1999, working in a broad range of disciplines and environments, and has instructed students in the United States, Spain, and Poland.
